Dr. Kit takes a different approach to the treatment and prevention of low back pain.

After a thorough neurological examination Dr. Kit will determine which part of the nervous system is not functioning properly. Is the pain coming more from a nerve root, disc or facet joint, or from an imbalance in the brain that increases your perception of pain. In most cases, great success can be achieved with proper evaluation. We check for lumbar, pelvic, hip, knee and ankle structural imbalances in addition to neck misalignments. The ankles are the foundation and can cause problems all the way up into the low back. Why the neck? Pressure on the spinal cord at the neck level can directly effect the muscles in the low back by sending inappropriate nerve impulses to those muscles in the form of spasms that create imbalances. Looking at the big picture is essential.
We must take a multi-faceted approach.

The standard medical approach to back pain varies depending on the severity of the condition.  Muscle relaxers, painkillers, rest, and physical therapy such as traction, diathermy, ultrasound, hot and cold packs are sometimes used.  However, this approach has not been found very helpful.  If the problem doesn’t improve or worsens, then surgery may be recommended.

Most spinal surgery for acute lower back problems should be rarely performed and can be avoided.  Many people who have had back surgery report a recurrence of their symptoms within a year or two of the operation and may return to the operating table.  In some cases, the surgery makes no difference whatsoever.  In other cases, it does bring long-term relief.

Specific chiropractic adjustments (correcting misaligned vertebra very accurately), rehabilitation exercises on Nephesh Chiropractic's patented equipment and pilates physiotherapy for long-term core muscle strengthening can help most of those suffering from low back pain in our office. Some however, have back pain because of a sympathetic nervous system response that causes the nerves in your body to have heightened sensitivity.

In these low back pain patients, particularly those with severe acute pain or with chronic unresponsive pain, may require something called Brain Based Therapy developed by Frederick Carrick Ph.D., D.C. For more information about Brain Based Therapy click here.

Lower Back Pain

“ My kids think I have discovered the fountain of youth. My husband thinks its wonderful, and I think it is a miracle!!”

Dear Dr. Langstroth

This letter was intended to be a testimonial of how you and your services has helped me overcome some severe bouts of pain. It has, however, become a letter of appreciation, gratitude and much love!! “Thank you” doesn’t begin to express how I feel about what you have done for me.

After years of doing the “round-robin” thing with referrals from my family doctor to rheumatologist, orthopedist, neurologist, etc., and all the x-rays, MRI’s, CAT scans that go with such evaluations, I was at the end of my rope. I simply could not stand the pain anymore. I would be 70 years old in January. I could not see living the rest of my life in the constant pain. I hurt, literally from my neck to the soles of my feet. My family doctor could only tell me I had to “control” my pain with more medications. Not acceptable to me. I have always been a very active person. A retired ICU nurse, I decided I was not going to medicate myself to the zombie state to “control” my pain—it would be better to take it all at once, and exit this world pain-free.

As most of us in the medical field, I had a negative opinion regarding Chiropractors. I came to you, Dr. Kit, a broken woman. I could hardly walk into the treatment area. Two months later, I am walking, bending, doing my “spring” house cleaning early, doing my treadmill and exercises (something I could not do for the last 5 years!!!) My kids think I have discovered the fountain of youth. My husband thinks its wonderful, and I think it is a miracle!! I tell you again, Dr. Kit, you truly saved my life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
